Position Overview
The Work Permit Receiver (WPR) holds a critical responsibility in ensuring that industrial tasks are carried out safely and in full compliance with client regulations. This role is particularly significant in high-risk energy and oil field environments such as projects under Saudi Aramco. A WPR acts as the authorized representative responsible for receiving, understanding, and implementing work permits before any job activity begins. In operational facilities like the Khurais Oil Field, strict adherence to safety standards is mandatory. The position ensures that all site activities follow approved procedures, reducing operational risks and protecting personnel and assets.
Primary Responsibilities
The Work Permit Receiver is responsible for reviewing and receiving work permits issued by the client, verifying job scope, and confirming that all safety conditions are met prior to starting work. This includes ensuring that isolation procedures, gas testing, barricading, and required personal protective equipment are in place. The WPR must coordinate with supervisors, safety officers, and client representatives to guarantee full compliance with site rules. For Fire Watch or SBM personnel, responsibilities include monitoring hot work activities, remaining alert to fire hazards, and responding immediately in case of emergencies. Maintaining proper documentation, participating in toolbox talks, and enforcing safety guidelines are part of daily duties. Clear communication and strict discipline are essential to maintain safe working conditions throughout the project duration.
Required Skills and Experience
Candidates applying for the WPR role must hold valid authorization and relevant certification approved by Saudi Aramco. Strong knowledge of permit-to-work systems, hazard identification, and emergency response procedures is essential. Experience in oil and gas plant environments is highly preferred. Fire Watch/SBM applicants must demonstrate understanding of fire prevention practices, hot work monitoring, and safety compliance requirements. Physical fitness, alertness, and the ability to remain focused in high-risk areas are mandatory qualities. Applicants must also be familiar with industrial safety standards and capable of working under strict regulatory supervision.
